We are a FIRST Tech Challenge Team from Illinois. Tekon has been team since 2019. In order to be an efficient team, we split ourselves into a build team and a software team. Though we have separate titles, we value teamwork and work closely together in order to accomplish what needs to be done. We have an outreach lead as well who manages our team outreach and sponsorship events. Though we all have our roles, we still work together and help each other where it is needed as we as a team value having knowledge in every area of the game.
While competing in the game and creating robots, we also consider it very important to focus on our outreach, or getting more people to be interested in and help teach about STEM and FIRST. To do this, we have created Tekon Talks, an informative series we’ve created on our YouTube channel that ranges from the basics in JAVA to how to successfully manage an FTC team.
